Prologue
The storm was brewing, a thunder storm was beginning to arrive, and the horses had yet to be set free from their stalls. The man with the western cowboy attire walked up to a horse and stroked its neck.
"I'm sorry for this, Dandelion." He whispered, shutting his eyes and giving the horse a quick peck on the forehead. His fangs appeared, and as quick as lightning, he bit into horse's neck, tasting the sweet, hot, delicious blood flowing into his mouth.
The horse in reply, yelped and tried to back away, snorting and huffing but the man's grip was too strong. Finally, he pulled away, wiping his mouth across his sleeve. His eyes were glowing yellow and red, a combination of deadly and sinful, yet uniquely different. He took a step back and eyed the other horses who stared at him in fear. For a while, he began to regret; but then his feelings shut down, as well as his humanity.
With one last snarl at the horses, he left the stable, using his vampire speed to take him elsewhere and not caring that the hurricane that came a minute after he left swept away the whole stable, stealing away the innocent lives of the four-legged creatures inside.
That's what a vampire is.
That's what they'll do to survive.

Chapter One
You know, some would say a girl that came from a broken family was mental. Some would call her crazy, or insane or even pathetic. But it didn't faze Lykan. Not one bit. She knew her family was torn apart and separated, it has always been like that for her.
Her father left the family to go live in New Zealand for some contractor's thing. Her mother had sold all their belongings, besides their clothes, to a homeless shelter and had begun going crazy; so she was sent to a mental hospital. Her brothers, six of them, were as annoying as hell, but she had to take care of them. Unfortunately, they all were transferred to England to live with their parents. So that left Lykan alone in her humble home.
Okay, fine. She wasn't alone. She lives with her best friend, Ashton. Ashton has long auburn hair with beautiful emerald green eyes, she lives with her parents and has been childhood friends with Lykan since they were both 6. Ashton is a rather quick-tempered girl, but even so she's very kind and nature-loving; some might even say she's a peace maker.
They both attend the snobbish and prestigious school that is commonly known as Archenhanl Academy, the home to all rich snobbish kids. Ashton and Lykan may not be rich, hell they couldn't even afford two 15 bucks necklaces, but they got a scholarship. So hell yeah.
Lykan's boyfriend Daryl had accidentally got her pregnant when they were both just 13. This may seem rather disturbing and wrong, but they were both drunk at a frat guy party when he led her to this bedroom and they did it. Without a condom. So out came a baby.
A beautiful, healthy female; which they named Sapphire. She has beautiful sandy-blonde hair, which she followed after her mother, and gorgeous blue eyes, which were taken from her father. She was pale, to say the least, and was always so lively and talented. She learned how to play the piano at the age of 3! And from the age of 4 onwards, she had always been athletic and loved outdoors, much like her father Daryl.
Though Lykan was so young, she loved Sapphire very much. That is, until she walked in on a man stealing the girl away one morning. It was the most horrifying thing Lykan could ever see, watching her baby get kidnapped like that was devastating.
For days, all Lykan did was cry. And Ashton didn't stop her, because whenever she tried to stop her and calm her down, Lykan would throw a fit. A really big fit. She'd start throwing chairs around and flinging tables off the ground, it was a huge riot and Ashton was afraid.
Daryl did nothing too. He just continued his school life with Ashton, trying to forget about Sapphire.
Finally, Lykan made a decision.
"I'm gonna find her and take her back."
Ashton stared at the crumbled paper intensively, when finally she broke down into hysterical laughter. "A-Are you serious, Lykan?!" She mumbled through gasps of laughter. "Oh god! I'm so glad you're alright again, but seriously, stop joking around!"
Lykan's brow furrowed and she turned her gaze to the map in front of them. The room was dim, almost as if darkness had soothed the place just for this specific atmosphere, and the only light was coming from the table lamp on the table. Lykan retraced the marks she had written on the map and turned to Ashton, breathing out a sigh.
"Ash, I'm serious. I'm going to the Mountain of Heavens to find Sapphire."
Ashton paused and looked at Lykan with a disbelieving face. "You have got to be kidding me."
Lykan frowned and shook her head. "This is my daughter, Ash-"
"-Yeah, you're daughter who got kidnapped by a physio monster!"
Lykan hesitated at the volume of Ashton's voice. It surprised her. Yes, she was used to Ashton's mood-swings, but the power and seriousness of her voice got her re-thinking this idea.
"Besides, how the hell do you even know Sapphire is on that mountain?! How the hell do you even know that the stupid lump of Earth exists?!" She was snapping here and there as if someone had suddenly stole her car. For some reason, she was pissed and annoyed.
Lykan looked away and turned her gaze to darkness. "I had a dream last night." Ashton frowned. "It was about Sapphire. She was calling to me..." With that, she gripped the pendant in her hands tightly, as if the pendant could be the answers to all her problems. "And... she told me to come find her. And fast. Then she told me about the creatures she's seen and the tough road she had to take to get to the mountain."
She was hesitating alot, as if the memory burned her somehow. Finally, she let the pendant fall, making sure she still had a grip on the string that bounded it. She necklace shimmered with the light, a purple glow casting over everything in the room. "She told me that I'll need this necklace through my journey. And that I should find her."
Ashton looked up at Lykan. "That was a dream-"
"When I woke up, I found this Ash. Explain that!" Lykan muttered quickly, shoving the pendant to her face.
Ashton hesitated and pushed the pendant away, looking at the ground for a few minutes. Lykan's heart beat quickly because she needed Ash for this journey. Without Ash, she... she'd never be able to make it to the top.
"Lykan," Ashton's eyes turned to match the other girl's gaze. "I swear to god this is your worst bullshit yet." Lykan hesitated when Ash sighed. "But then again, I can't let you go alone. So..."
With a small smile, Ashton looked up at Lykan and nodded. The other girl nearly squealed, and for her age that is very embarrassing. She flung her arms around her best friend and hugged her senseless. Thank god no one saw it.
Short chapter one, I know.
But I promise you, it gets better. :)
